2023 International Symposium on Hydrogen Metallurgy (ISHM2023) was successfully held on September 5-7, 2023 in Chongli, China. The conference was organized by The Chinese Society for Metals and HBIS Group.
With more than one year preparations, 120 abstracts from 11 countries were received totally, 93 of which were published in the abstract proceedings after peer-reviewed by the technical committee. Technical program of ISHM2023 covered the following fields: (1) fundamental theory of hydrogen metallurgy, (2) hydrogen utilization in raw materials preparing, (3) hydrogen utilization in blast furnace ironmaking, (4) hydrogen utilization in novel ironmaking process, (5) life cycle evaluation of ironmaking process using hydrogen, (6) low-cost hydrogen production process for metallurgical industry: grey hydrogen, blue hydrogen, green hydrogen preparation technology. 22 plenary lectures, 14 keynote presentations, 30 contributed presentations and 17 poster presentations were arranged at ISHM2023.
Prof. Zhiling Tian, the Executive Vice President of CSM, chaired the conference. Prof. Xiaogang Zhang of CSM, Mr. Yong Yu of HBIS Group, Dr. Edwin Basson of World Steel Association and Prof. Xinping Mao of University of Science and Technology Beijing gave the opening speech of the conference. In this conference, the blue book on the development of hydrogen metallurgy was issued by World Steel Development Research Institute and The Chinese Society for Metals.
During the conference, more than 550 experts from 14 countries and regions attended the meeting, and 3 international well-known related enterprises joined the exhibitions of the conference. After the meeting, the conference participants were organized to visit HBIS Group Zhangxuan High Tech.. 20 mainstream media, such as the Xinhua News Agency, CRI Online, China Daily, China Metallurgical News, etc., were attracted to report this event.
The main goal of ISHM2023 was to bring together leading researchers to share their research results and experiences from academia and industries on all aspects of hydrogen metallurgy. The feedback from the delegates were positive, most of them have benefited much from their participation in this conference.
This conference was sponsored by MCC Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited and Tenova S.p.A., co-organized by University of Science and Technology Beijing and China Metallurgical Information and Standardization Institute, supported by World Steel Association and World Steel Development Research Institute.
