The 13th China-Korea Joint Symposium on Advanced Steel Technology was successfully held in Xiamen from November 28 to 30, 2023. This symposium was jointly organized by The Chinese Society for Metals (CSM) and The Korean Institute of Metals and Materials (KIM), and co-organized by Fujian Sansteel (Group) Co., Ltd.

Dr. Zhiling Tian, executive vice president of CSM chaired the opening session. Dr. Xiaogang Zhang, president of CSM, Dr. Lizhang Li of Fujian Sansteel (Group) Co., Ltd., Prof. Je Hyun Lee, the president of KIM and Dr. Sedon Choo, the Vice President of POSCO delivered a speech at the opening ceremony respectively.


Prof. Xinhua Wang from the University of Science and Technology Beijing and Prof. Pak Jong-Jin from Hanyang University served as advisors for the symposium, while Prof. Min Jiang from the University of Science and Technology Beijing and Prof. Yong-Sug Chung from Hanyang University are the co-chairs of both sides.


The symposium aims to provide a platform for scholars, researchers and engineers of universities, institutes and industry from both China and Korea to communicate the latest developments in the science and technologies of steel material, and exchanges of ideas and opinions in the area of innovative, creative and challenging processes in steel industry. The conference featured a total of 28 invited presentations from academic and industrial representatives of both countries. The topics covered current hot issues in the steel industry, including green low-carbon initiatives, intelligent manufacturing, quality improvement, and cutting-edge technology research and development.
